Our client is a renowned building main contractor covering Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas, they have an excellent reputation for safety, quality and delivery. Due to continued sustainable growth and the acquisition of many new schemes, our client is keen to identify a Quantity Surveyor for their award winning commercial department. Our client is known for developing people professionally and personally and fully supporting long-term career growth. A working week could be a mix of office and site with one day working from home.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tender and contract documents for sub-contract orders.
  • Undertake cost analysis.
  • Perform risk, value management and cost control.
  • Advise on a procurement strategy.
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks.
  • Prepare and analyse costings for tenders.
  • Allocate work to subcontractors.
  • Provide advice on contractual claims.
  • Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports.
  • Value completed work and arrange payments in line with the contract.
  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
  • Keep abreast of statutory and industry changes to ensure operations are compliant.
  • Understand the health and safety regulations and implications.
  • Undertake accurate CVR reporting.
  • Produce procurement schedules.
  • Review and agree Main Contract terms and amendments.

Skill Sets:

  • A degree or professional qualification accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
  • Experience as a practising Quantity Surveyor with a track record of successful project completion.
  • Broad knowledge of the construction industry, preferably within the restoration and conservation sector.
  • Excellent IT and maths skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to interact with several different clients and suppliers, communicating clearly both verbally and orally.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
