Assistant Quantity Surveyor Role:
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Junior/Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team on high-end residential projects. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with up to 3 years’ industry experience, including placements or work on high-spec residential schemes. You will work closely with a Senior QS, gaining hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Senior QS in managing commercial aspects across one or two projects
- Assistance with managing subcontractor accounts, including procurement, valuations, payments and final accounts
- Help in the preparation, assessment, and negotiation of variations
- Assist in cost reporting and forecasting to ensure accurate project financials
- Contribute to tendering processes and documentation
- Maintain accurate records, measurement, and project documentation
- Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to support commercial delivery
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and assist with valuations
Required Experience & Qualifications for the Assistant Quantity Surveyor:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
- Minimum of 2-3 experience, including industrial placement, within high-end residential construction
- Understanding of construction contracts, cost management, and commercial processes
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
- Proficient with MS Excel and relevant QS software
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn under guidance of a Senior QS
