Salary: £65-£70k + Package
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our client's specialist subcontracting business, delivering brickwork, masonry and stonework packages on major construction projects. The successful candidate will manage the design process from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, buildable and delivered to programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage design packages for brickwork, blockwork, masonry and stonework.
- Coordinate architectural, structural, façade and other specialist interfaces.
- Review drawings, specifications, calculations and technical submissions.
- Manage external consultants, suppliers and specialist designers.
- Lead design meetings and manage RFIs, design trackers and approvals.
- Identify design risks, clashes and buildability issues.
- Support commercial, procurement and programme teams with design development and changes.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, Building Regulations and project requirements.
- Work closely with site teams to ensure approved designs are successfully delivered.
Experience Required
- Proven Design Management experience within construction.
- Experience with a specialist subcontractor or masonry/façade contractor preferred.
- Strong knowledge of brickwork, masonry and ideally natural stone.
- Ability to read and coordinate architectural and structural drawings.
- Good understanding of construction sequencing and buildability.
- Experience managing consultants and design interfaces.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering or architecture are desirable.
