An established main contractor with an outstanding reputation in the heritage and restoration sector is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee a portfolio of prestigious projects across Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties. Working on historically significant buildings, listed properties and high-end restoration projects, you will play a key role in delivering complex works to the highest standards of craftsmanship, quality, and compliance.
The Role
As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple heritage and restoration projects, ensuring programmes, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations are consistently achieved. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing multiple heritage and restoration projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Leading site teams and supporting Project Managers and Site Managers.
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, conservation officers, and subcontractors.
- Monitoring project performance, programme delivery, and commercial objectives.
- Coordinating labour, materials, subcontractors, and specialist trades.
- Maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, particularly on historically sensitive structures.
- Managing project reporting, risk assessment, and quality assurance processes.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within the building heritage, high-end refurbishment, restoration, or conservation sectors within a main contracting environment.
- A strong understanding of traditional building methods and heritage construction techniques.
- Experience delivering listed building, conservation, refurbishment, or restoration projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and project management capabilities.
- Ideally, a background in carpentry and joinery, with a practical understanding of traditional craftsmanship and specialist restoration works.
