WHO WE ARE

Outside is an award-winning, research-based consultancy helping leaders and organisations harness the new science of mindset to transform their futures. We help our clients develop their leaders, find growth in uncertain times, and build agile, future ready cultures. Our work with senior leaders enables them to build their mindset and human advantage so they can lead their teams and organisations in an increasingly uncertain world where machines can think.

We are now looking for an experienced Senior Consultant who can lead our high-impact leadership mindset programmes end-to-end and act as a trusted adviser to our clients.

ROLE SUMMARY

This is a core consulting role at Outside. As a Senior Consultant, you will lead complex leadership programmes from initial sense‑making and design through to delivery and lasting impact. You will work closely with senior decision‑makers (often C‑suite) and facilitate programmes for cohorts of senior leaders. This role is for someone who can combine consulting judgement with exceptional session design and facilitation skills. Someone who wants to learn, apply and steward Outside’s mindset approach – not simply deliver sessions – and create lasting impact for leaders, the client relationship and their own ongoing development.

Senior Consultants at Outside work in close partnership with our Programme Experience and Programme Management team, who are accountable for the end‑to‑end participant experience and operational delivery of programmes. Senior Consultants hold accountability for the integrity of the programme content design, the quality of facilitation, and the impact of the work. This partnership allows Senior Consultants to focus fully on senior stakeholders, cohort learning, and mindset impact, supported by robust delivery excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Programme design and delivery (~80%)
  • Conducting initial sense‑making interviews with key client stakeholders to define the programme brief and develop a cohesive programme narrative.
  • Designing core business metrics and learning objectives that can be tracked and measured throughout the programme.
  • Conducting cohort analysis and understanding business needs to design optimal programme journeys that combine learning events, virtual sessions, individual learning assignments and ongoing coaching support.
  • Designing tailored learning events and sessions using core Outside mindset content and approaches that create unique experiences for leaders.
  • Exceptional facilitation of in‑person learning events and virtual sessions creating deep confidence and trust amongst senior leader cohorts.
  • Ongoing adaptation of programme design and content based on cohort dynamics and organisational context.
  • Developing tailored coaching approaches for programmes based on the content journey.
  • Coaching leaders and leading Outside coaching teams to ensure delegates receive consistent and impactful experience across the programme – adapting to observations and cohort need.
  • Working in close partnership with the Programme Experience and Programme Management team to ensure delivery is seamless, thoughtful, and outcomes driven.
  • Anticipating risks and second and third‑order impacts, escalating and addressing them early and constructively.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to senior sponsors and client leads
    • Understand all programme components and how they support defined business metrics and learning objectives; enabling them to manage stakeholders and maximise programme success.
    • Manage and navigate implications of organisational changes upon programme design and resulting trade‑offs for delivery.
    • Make confident decisions throughout the programme in the interests of both the business and programme participants.
  • Deepening mindset understanding and contribution to Outside (~20%)
    • Work alongside Outside’s senior leaders and research team to stay at the forefront of Outside’s mindset thinking and practices.
    • Integrate evolving research into live programmes with judgement and integrity.
    • Continuously strengthen your own consulting craft, facilitation presence, and decision‑making around Outside’s core mindset content.
    • Contribute to the ongoing development, learning, and evolution of Outside’s thinking and work through translating live feedback and experiences with leaders into content changes and opportunities.
    • Support and potentially lead others as the team grows.
    • Identify and nurture organic opportunities for further work within programmes or through your professional network (without being sales‑led).

    TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU'LL HAVE

    • Significant experience designing and delivering leadership or change programmes that create lasting impact, ideally gathered through a leadership, culture, or consulting environment.
    • Credibility working with senior leaders and executive‑level stakeholders.
    • Strong and personable facilitation skills combined with the ability to synthesise complexity into clear insight and actionable application for leaders.
    • A grounded understanding of mindset science and human behaviour, applied pragmatically in a business context.
    • Comfort working with ambiguity, autonomy, and responsibility.
    • Strong written craft – able to create impactful, usable content, tools and practices that leaders can understand and apply.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE INCLUDE

    • High levels of trust and confidence from senior clients
    • Programmes that create visible, durable shifts in how leaders think and act
    • Strong delegate experience and meaningful learning outcomes
    • Clients seeking ongoing partnership and repeat engagement
    • Internal recognition as a proactive and considered leader for complex, high‑stakes work

    WHAT WE LOOK FOR

Being successful and satisfied at work means being open to discuss three mutually important things which we look for when bringing in new team members.

    • Capability: Can you do the job we need today, and can you grow into your next role here?
    • Character: Do our values align in a way that builds mutual trust and commitment over time? At Outside, this means being accountable for outcomes while showing deep care for those impacted – owning decisions, learning from mistakes, and acting without blame.
    • Motivation: What deeply motivates you, and will these needs be met by the role, rewards, and culture at Outside?

    WHY JOIN OUTSIDE?

This is not a tactical, pure facilitation role, but a core part of our work, with real scope to shape impact for our clients and leadership cohorts. Outside is committed to being a leader in its field, shaping the future of leadership development, providing real scope for your own personal development and growth. Our purpose is “to be a driving force of human evolution.” We believe the role of humans in a more uncertain world, where machines can think, means that to be economically and more broadly successful, we need to rethink our relationship with work. We are committed to embracing that reality meaning that working at Outside will equip you for the future. A great team – the people at Outside care deeply about our purpose and doing great work. They also believe in building a healthy and caring culture. You would be part of that.
