About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join a supportive school in Peterborough. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people who have a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties. You will work closely with the school’s SENCO and wider teaching team to deliver tailored support, create an inclusive learning environment, and help students reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver specialist SEN lessons across primary or secondary classes.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each pupil.
- Work with support staff to provide 1:1 or small group interventions.
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting strategies where needed.
- Support the development of independence, social skills, and emotional wellbeing.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to learning.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children with SEN, complex needs, or additional learning difficulties.
- Strong knowledge of SEN teaching strategies and differentiation.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping children achieve their potential.
- Relevant SEN teaching qualifications are desirable but not essential.
