About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join a children’s residential home in Croydon. This role offers the opportunity to support the Registered Manager in running the home, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children and young people. As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in leading the care team, implementing care plans, and promoting positive outcomes for residents, while ensuring the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Quality Standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home.
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring care plans for children and young people.
  • Supervise and support residential care staff, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and safeguarding requirements.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, behaviour management plans, and incident reporting.
  • Maintain high standards of care, safety, and wellbeing for all residents.
  • Support recruitment, training, and performance management of staff.
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, social workers, and families to meet the needs of young people.

Requirements

  • Experience working in residential childcare, ideally in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Quality Standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent; Level 5 qualifications desirable.
  • A passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people.
