About the Role
We are looking for caring, resilient, and motivated Children’s Residential Support Workers to join our residential home in Canterbury, Kent. You will support children and young people who may have experienced trauma or disruption, helping them feel safe, valued, and supported to achieve positive outcomes. This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about making a real difference and providing consistent, child-centred care in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, child-centred care within a residential setting
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
- Act as a positive role model, offering guidance, structure, and emotional support
- Support with daily routines including education, appointments, leisure activities, and personal care where required
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies
- Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people at all times
- Maintain accurate records and reports in line with policies and regulatory standards
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine commitment to working with children and young people
- Experience in children’s residential care or a related setting (desirable but not essential)
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach, particularly in challenging situations
- Willingness to work a shift pattern including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
