Outrank is looking for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our growing sales team. This is a key role within the business, focused on identifying new opportunities, building strong relationships and turning conversations into long-term partnerships. You’ll work closely with prospective clients to understand where they want to grow, identify the right digital marketing opportunities and introduce them to the services that can help get them there.

We’re looking for someone who understands that good business development is about more than simply closing a deal. It’s about bringing the right clients into the business, setting clear expectations from the start and creating relationships that have the potential to deliver long-term value.

A Bit About Us

Outrank is a full-service digital marketing agency based in Middlesbrough, working with businesses across the UK. Our team includes specialists across SEO, PPC, website development, e-commerce, social media, email marketing, content and customer success. We’ve built the business around delivering measurable results while creating an environment where talented people can enjoy their work, develop their careers and have a genuine impact on where the company goes next. Our culture is built around collaboration, trust, ambition and supporting each other to succeed.

A Bit About You

We’re looking for someone who is confident, ambitious and comfortable taking ownership of their own performance. You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience in business development, B2B sales or a similar commercially focused role
  • A strong track record of generating and closing new business
  • Confidence speaking with business owners and senior decision-makers
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A consultative approach to sales
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline from prospecting through to close
  • The ability to identify opportunities and turn them into meaningful conversations
  • Strong negotiation and objection-handling skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach
  • The resilience and drive to consistently work towards ambitious targets

Previous experience within a digital marketing agency, SaaS, technology, recruitment or another B2B environment would be particularly useful. An understanding of services such as SEO, PPC, websites, e-commerce, paid social or wider digital marketing would also be an advantage. You’ll be someone who enjoys speaking to people and understands how to build trust quickly. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all sales pitch, you’ll ask the right questions, understand what a business actually needs and be able to explain clearly how Outrank can support its goals. You’ll also be comfortable taking responsibility for your own pipeline. You’ll know when an opportunity needs nurturing, when to follow up and when to push a conversation forward. Most importantly, you’ll be motivated by growth. Growth for your clients, growth for Outrank and growth within your own career.

Your Day To Day

As Business Development Manager, you’ll take ownership of developing new business opportunities and contributing directly to Outrank’s continued growth. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and securing new business opportunities across a range of sectors
  • Building and managing a strong pipeline of prospective clients
  • Developing relationships with business owners, directors and key decision-makers
  • Understanding prospective clients’ objectives, challenges and commercial goals
  • Introducing and selling Outrank’s digital marketing services, including SEO, PPC, website development, e-commerce, social media and email marketing
  • Leading discovery calls, meetings and presentations with prospective clients
  • Creating clear and commercially focused proposals
  • Managing opportunities from initial conversation through to close and onboarding
  • Developing new prospecting, networking and partnership opportunities
  • Attending relevant business events, networking opportunities and meetings
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records and forecasting sales opportunities
  • Working closely with our marketing, sales and delivery teams to ensure new clients are the right fit for Outrank
  • Identifying trends and opportunities that could support future business growth
  • Consistently working towards and exceeding new business and revenue targets

Company Benefits

Joining Outrank means becoming part of a growing agency with big ambitions and plenty of opportunities to develop. You can expect:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Performance-related bonus and commission opportunities
  • Clear opportunities for career progression
  • Training and development from experienced team members
  • Opportunities to attend conferences, networking events and industry events
  • Increased annual leave based on length of service
  • Company events and team socials
  • Bike to work scheme
  • A collaborative office environment with a team that genuinely wants each other to succeed

You’ll also have the opportunity to play an important role in the next stage of Outrank’s growth.
