Key Responsibilities
- Design and build efficient, production-ready rigs for characters, creatures, facial systems, and props
- Develop deformation systems (skin weighting, corrective shapes, muscle systems, blendshapes)
- Collaborate closely with Modeling, Animation, CFX, and Pipeline teams
- Troubleshoot and optimize rigs for performance and stability
- Create facial rigs (blendshape-based, joint-based, or hybrid)
- Maintain clean, scalable rig structures suitable for large pipelines
- Write and maintain rigging tools and automation scripts where required
- Support animation teams by fixing issues and implementing requested enhancements
- Adhere to naming conventions, documentation, and versioning standards
- Deliver rigs on schedule and to technical requirements
Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of anatomy, movement, and deformation principles
- Expert knowledge of Maya (industry standard)
- Solid experience with skinning and deformation workflows
- Experience creating body and facial rigs
- Proficiency in Python scripting for rigging tools and automation
- Understanding of animation workflows and animator needs
- Ability to debug technical issues under production deadlines
