The Quantity Surveyor / Senior QS is responsible for providing expert quantity surveying services to clients, including cost estimating, tendering, and contract administration. This position requires a strong understanding of construction methods and materials, as well as experience in high quality projects, with some project management responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including the cost of materials, labor, and equipment.
- Review and analyse construction drawings and specifications to identify potential cost risks.
- Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents and evaluating bids.
- Negotiate and award contracts with subcontractors.
- Administer contracts, including monitoring project costs, issuing payment certificates, and resolving disputes.
- Provide expert advice to clients on all aspects of quantity surveying.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field. Preferably on the RICS pathway or hold MRICS.
- 4+ years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably with some experience working for a consultancy/PQS but open to contractor backgrounds.
- Strong understanding of construction methods and materials.
- Experience in managing tendering and contract administration processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
