Job Title: Therapies Assistant

Location: 3 Dimension School – Somerset, TA20 3AJ

Salary: £25,837.50 FTE DOE

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri 8.30am-4.30pm

Contract: Permanent – Term Time Only plus 2 weeks

Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Support the work of Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists within a cross-disciplinary team.
  • Provide high-quality support tailored to pupils\\\’ needs in collaboration with the therapy and education teams.
  • Conduct observations, assist with evidence-based assessments and interventions under supervision, and contribute to the development of communication and sensory profiles.
  • Assist with placement plans, deliver a range of interventions, and participate in multi-agency meetings and service development.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through internal forums and external training opportunities.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Therapies Assistant who has experience of working with young people with special educational needs. The successful candidate will be independently motivated while working under the supervision of a qualified clinician. A creative approach to developing bespoke interventions to meet the needs of complex pupils and a dynamic problem-solving mindset are desirable.

Essential Criteria

  • 5 GCSEs Grade C or above, including English. Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Experience working as a therapy assistant or in a similar role is advantageous.
  • Experience working within an educational setting is advantageous.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with children and young people with SEN.
  • Ability to carry out both 1:1 and group sessions under supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, complex, technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, carers, families and professionals outside the service.
  • Excellent organisational skills and experience completing administration tasks for a team.
