Salary: ÂŁ31,500 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 38.5 hours per week | Monday – Friday

About the Role

As an Unqualified Teacher, you will work alongside experienced colleagues to deliver high-quality teaching and shape personalised learning programmes. You will create a safe, nurturing environment where every learner can grow in confidence, independence, and resilience. This role is ideal for someone eager to start a teaching career in SEN, with excellent opportunities to develop skills and progress professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lessons, small group and 1:1 sessions tailored to SEN learners.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning in line with pupils’ individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Contribute to curriculum development and schemes of work.
  • Track pupil progress and set achievable, meaningful targets.
  • Write reports and participate in EHCP reviews and meetings.
  • Use indoor and outdoor spaces creatively to enhance learning experiences.
  • Build supportive, trusting relationships that boost engagement, wellbeing, and independence.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, families, therapists, and external agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Previous classroom teaching experience in an SEN setting required.
  • Knowledge of SEN practice and understanding of neurodivergent learners’ needs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidence in building positive, supportive relationships with young people.

At Hillingdon Manor, we provide specialist education for 185 pupils, aged between 10 and 19. Located across two sites, our Secondary School supports around 125 students. Our students are taught in smaller class sizes and all students work towards a variety of qualifications dependent on their needs and ability.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each pupil’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide students with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable, and understanding.

For over 19 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are a leading provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young adults.
