About the Role
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate Hair & Beauty professional to begin their teaching journey while supporting the delivery of high-quality practical and theory-based learning. Working within our Hair, Beauty and Barbering programmesâincluding the BTEC Level 1 qualification and vocational rotationsâyou will help learners develop foundational industry skills in a supportive, engaging environment.
As an Unqualified Teacher, you will receive structured mentoring and guidance while working towards a Level 5 teaching qualification. Youâll gain hands-on experience in classroom management, lesson planning, and assessment practices, developing the confidence and expertise needed to progress within the teaching profession.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and co-deliver both practical and theory sessions across Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Barbering.
- Build positive, consistent and caring relationships with pupils, promoting a supportive learning environment.
- Demonstrate safe, professional salon practices in line with industry standards.
- Support the assessment process by marking formative work and providing feedback under supervision.
- Accurately record learner progress using unit trackers and internal systems.
- Assist learners with practical skills, evidence gathering and portfolio development to meet BTEC requirements.
- Provide hands-on coaching in core introductory techniques, including:
- Shampooing and conditioning
- Basic styling and blow-drying
- Skin care and nail care
- Health & safety
- Basic barbering techniques
Essential Criteria
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and/or Barbering.
- A Full UK Driving Licence
- Recent, relevant industry experience with strong practical skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed.
- Willingness to work towards the Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training.
- Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, proactive attitude towards training, feedback and continuous professional development.
