Full Job Description. We are looking for a Newly Qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Trent Acres school. You will work within a multidisciplinary education setting, delivering bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs. This role follows the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and supports your professional development within an employer that values continued learning.

The Role

You will:

  • Deliver specialist Speech and Language Therapy caseload management with supervision from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Collaborate with the education team to support pupils with diverse communication profiles and needs.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation, supporting a person‑centred, safeguarding‑focused approach.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote independence and positive outcomes for pupils.
  • Adhere to professional standards and requirements of governing bodies and professional bodies.

This post is located at Trent Acres – Staffordshire DE13 7HR, part of the Options Autism brand, a specialist day school for children and young people aged 5–19.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Registered with the RCSLT
  • Relevant previous experience as a student SaLT or in a previously held role/placement
  • Experience of engaging and supporting individuals with complex communication profiles (autism, cognitive differences, and related needs)
  • Awareness of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice
  • Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in various settings
  • Experience of communicating with/working with families and carers
  • Strong communication, time management and organisational skills
  • Understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards and core SaLT competencies
  • Knowledge of assessment tools, intervention types, and formulation of support plans
  • Understanding of sensory and motor factors affecting communication
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and its clinical implications
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of CPD and willingness to pursue further relevant qualifications
  • Full driving licence and access to a car
