Salary: £8,362.50 per annum (£12.50 per hour - not pro rata)

Hours: 15 hours per week; Monday to Friday 11am - 2pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Start Date: October 2025

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team. In this role, you will help prepare and serve nutritious meals to students and staff, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and ensure all food hygiene standards are met. You will play a vital part in supporting a healthy school environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of meals
  • Serve meals to pupils and staff during lunch periods
  • Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment to maintain hygiene standards
  • Wash dishes, trays, utensils, and cooking equipment
  • Help set up and clear dining areas before and after service
  • Monitor food stock levels and inform the supervisor of shortages
  • Follow all food hygiene, health & safety, and allergy-awareness guidelines
  • Support the Kitchen Supervisor or Cook with any other duties as needed
  • Attend training courses, and team meetings as required

Glebedale School is a special needs school which provides provision for ages 7 years and upwards. We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH pupils, and our curriculum has a keen focus on therapy, education and personal development. Our school aims to help pupils grow academically, socially and emotionally to enable them to become capable future citizens.

We provide education to 30 pupils from the Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire areas. At our last Ofsted in December 2022, we were rated “Good”.
