Job Title: Humanities Instructor
Location: Penny Tree School, Birmingham, B30 3ES
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am â 4.30pm
Salary: ÂŁ26,375.00 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: April 2026

About the Role
As a Humanities Instructor, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering an engaging, ambitious, and progressive Humanities curriculum across the school. Working closely with senior leaders, you will contribute to the development of new qualification pathways and ensure high-quality teaching and learning that inspires academic curiosity and personal growth in every pupil. You will take a proactive lead in raising standards within the Humanities department, supporting colleagues, monitoring curriculum delivery, and ensuring that all learning experiences remain challenging, relevant, and appropriate for a diverse range of learners. With a strong understanding of school pathways and the qualifications available at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, you will ensure that pupils are effectively supported and prepared for their next steps. A key part of this role includes contributing to the creation of a personalised, nurturing, and holistic learning environment that reflects and promotes the schoolâs values and ethos. You will also support the development of meaningful sequences of learning, deliver enrichment activities, and collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to communicate subject effectiveness and drive continual improvement. As a role model of professional standards, you will embody the expectations of the Professional Standards for Teachers and champion excellence in Humanities education across the school.
Standard Responsibilities
- Participate in the annual performance review programme.
- Work in full accordance with OFG Group policies, procedures, and relevant statutory regulations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality appropriate to the role.
- Comply with Health and Safety Regulations to ensure the wellbeing of themselves and others.
- Actively support the safeguarding and welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
- Carry out any additional duties reasonably requested by the Senior Leadership Team.
