Salary: Up to £32,000.00 per annum

Location: New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our close-knit team at New Barn School, part of Acorn Education.

The successful applicant will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and pupil protection for the school. They will take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings and contribute to the assessment of pupils. They will advise and support other members of staff on pupil welfare and pupil protection matters and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police. Some safeguarding activities may be delegated to deputies, although you will retain lead responsibility for the work of deputies and will ensure it is completed to the highest standard.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Refer cases of suspected abuse to the local authority pupils social care
  • Support staff who make referrals to local authority pupils social care
