We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile Senior/Staff Product Engineer with expertise in the development of Optoelectronic ICs or Photonic Devices. Specialization in SPAD ICs is highly desirable. This role will involve cross-functional collaboration to drive product development from NPI through to mass production, with focus on the development and qualification stages. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of automotive qualification standards and the creation of qualification plans for optoelectronic ICs. Extensive experience with both Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and bench debugging of ICs is required. Significant experience in the characterization of Optoelectronic ICs or SPADs is also highly preferred.

As a growing start-up, we value individuals who are adaptable, willing to take on multiple roles, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • NPI (New Product Introduction): Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, process, test, and reliability engineers) to drive SPAD ICs from prototype to mass production, ensuring seamless product launches. Work alongside OSATs to develop and implement manufacturing and testing solutions.
  • ATE Test Development & Hardware: Lead the design and implementation of innovative multi-site hardware and software solutions (Test Programs) to minimize test cost and optimize test time. Own the development of production-ready hardware, including probe cards and loadboards. Develop robust ATE-level characterization solutions to validate key ASIC parameters.
  • Automotive Qualification: Develop and implement robust automotive qualification plans for SPAD ICs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 26262, AEC-Q100). Collaborate with Reliability Engineers to design hardware and software systems that support qualification efforts. Perform and oversee ATE and bench-level debugging of SPAD ICs throughout the qualification process. Document qualification processes and results to ensure traceability. Direct failure analysis initiatives to identify and resolve potential manufacturing or process issues effectively.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with both system-level and ASIC-level teams to ensure effective communication and mutual understanding of product requirements. Facilitate technical discussions and collaborations to drive key project milestones and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze test data to identify trends and product performance improvements. Generate detailed reports for both internal and external stakeholders, summarising key performance metrics.
  • Failure Analysis & Yield Improvement: Conduct failure analysis to drive yield enhancement initiatives during product ramp and mass production.
  • Product Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive product documentation, including test reports, qualification reports and production release notes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in IC product engineering, with a focus on optoelectronic devices or SPADs.
  • Hands-on experience with ATE and bench-level debugging tools and methods.
  • Advanced knowledge of PCB layout and schematic design.
  • Extensive knowledge of SPAD ICs, including opto-electrical characterization parameters such as DCR, APP, PDP and more.
  • Strong understanding of automotive qualification standards (e.g., AEC-Q100) and experience creating qualification plans.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using tools like Python, JMP or the equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly Desirable Skills
  • Extensive experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and product lifecycle management, encompassing all phases from prototyping to mass production.
  • Proven experience on automotive qualification (i.e. AEC-Q100) of optoelectronic devices, preferably SPAD based ICs.
  • Knowledge of SPAD pixel architecture and its integration in CMOS processes.
  • Hands-on experience on opto-electrical validation and characterization is a plus.
  • Familiarity with LIDAR systems.
