Are you kind, dependable, and ready to make a genuine difference every day? We are looking for a Female Support Worker to join a friendly, close-knit team providing one-to-one care for a woman living with a spinal cord injury in the Southampton area. This is a rewarding role where you will support her independence, assist with personal care, and help with daily living tasks to empower her to live life to the fullest in the comfort of her own home. You will also be welcomed by her friendly dog and two cats, so animal lovers are especially encouraged to apply. Please note that applicants should also be comfortable around smoking.

Rate of Pay: £15.00-£16.00 per hour, Double time for Bank Holidays

Location: Southampton

Shift Pattern: 24 hours – Alternate weeks Friday & Sunday

Job Purpose: To support your client with their day-to-day living, promoting their independence and supporting them to live a fulfilled life ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical support for the client and their family, such as helping with personal care, household tasks and paperwork
  • Assist and encourage the client to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work activities, according to their choice
  • Support and monitor the client's healthcare needs, including administering medication and other clinical tasks
  • Help the client to access community facilities and be included in community groups, if desired
  • Understand the client's communication needs and adapt your own communication style accordingly
  • Keep accurate, up-to-date records of the care you provide
  • Work positively with other professionals, such as doctors and therapists, to ensure consistency of support
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Participate in learning and development opportunities as required
  • Support the client to lead a fulfilling and more independent life by ensuring safety and wellbeing at all times

Ideal Candidate:

  • A positive and proactive approach
  • A full, clean driving licence and willingness to drive the client's adapted vehicle
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Comfortable around pets and smoking

Preferred:

  • Previous experience of complex care and/or spinal cord injuries
