Position Summary: The Medical Assistant and Nursing Assistant are responsible for providing compassionate and professional care to individuals with eating disorders and assisting providers to improve the quality of patient care.
Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 06:00am - 2:30pm
Compensation: $15-22 per hour
How Certified Nurses or Medical Assistants Empower Recovery:
- Communicate with clients, staff and outside contacts
- Chart documentation
- Prepare exam rooms and room clients
- Take vitals (blood pressure, height/weight, etc.), EKGs, blood draws, accuchecks, and report results to nurse
- Assist in refilling prescriptions (within PHP)
- Help maintain inventory of medical supplies
- Call for labs, growth charts, and medical records
- Assist in care coordination with other members of patient’s treatment team
- Report questions, ideas, and concerns to nurse
- Receive and hand off report at shift change
- Set up tube feeds and pumps only after nurse confirmation of tube placement and the feed to be infused (will receive onsite training)
- Run point of care laboratory testing
- Participate and assist in meal support when covering for BHTs
- Assist with making outside appointments for patients
- Ensure proper cleaning and storage of medical equipment
- Provide immediate follow-up and communication of incidents to appropriate nurse and/or manager
- Supervise and lead milieu activities as appropriate and assigned when providing BHT support
- Other duties as assigned
Education Qualifications:
- High school degree or GED required
- For Medical Assistants: Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Certifications and/or Licenses: Certification/Registered by accredited organization; AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
- For Nursing Assistants: Current licensure as CNA II in state where job is posted
Professional Qualifications: Experience and interest in mental health nursing desirable
Other Qualifications: Employees are required to have a current Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire. Employees are required to have a current First Aid certification within 30 days of hire. Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites in North Carolina or Georgia are required to have a current CPI certification within 30 days of hire. Employees at Residential site in Washington are required to have a Washington State Department of Health Food Handler permit within 30 days of hire.
Competencies: Competence with Information Technology (basic computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Health Record, Microsoft Teams), Phlebotomy draws, EKGs (pediatric and adult)
Workplace Environment: For Outpatient levels of care: Standing 65% and Sitting 35%; For Residential/Inpatient levels of care: Standing 75% and Sitting 25%. Bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping or crouching when appropriate. Lift, carry, push or pull up to approx. 40 pounds (supplies, etc.)
