What you'll be doing: As a Despatch Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring customer orders are accurately picked, loaded, and dispatched on time. You will be responsible for handling finished goods, maintaining stock accuracy, and ensuring products leave site safely and in line with customer requirements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Picking and preparing customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Loading and unloading vehicles in a safe and timely manner.
- Ensuring all products are correctly labelled and dispatched to the correct destination.
- Conducting final checks on orders before dispatch to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Using warehouse management systems and scanning equipment to maintain accurate stock records.
- Completing dispatch paperwork and ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant.
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting any discrepancies.
- Working closely with Production, Planning, Warehouse and Transport teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Ensuring products are handled and stored correctly in line with food safety and quality standards.
- Supporting stock counts and inventory checks as required.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping throughout the despatch area.
- Following all Food Safety, HACCP, GMP and Health & Safety procedures at all times.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the warehouse and despatch operation.
What we're looking for: To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working within a warehouse, despatch, logistics, manufacturing, or food production environment.
- Has strong attention to detail and can work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Is confident completing paperwork and using computer systems.
- Has experience using scanners, warehouse management systems, or stock control systems (desirable).
- Can prioritise workload effectively and work to deadlines.
- Has excellent communication skills and works well as part of a team.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to food safety, quality, and health and safety standards.
- Is reliable, organised, and able to work independently when required.
- Holds an FLT licence (desirable but not essential, as training may be provided).
