This isn’t a “keep the lights on” role. It’s an opportunity to step into an environment that needs clarity, ownership, and direction - and make it work properly. Our Media is a Bristol-based content and publishing business behind a portfolio of well-known brands, digital products, and highly engaged communities. As the business evolves, technology is playing a bigger role in how it scales, operates, and grows. This hire sits right at the centre of that shift.

What you’ll be walking into:

  • A mix of on‑prem infrastructure, partial ownership, and external support
  • Systems that aren’t fully mapped out
  • A need to bring structure, not just maintain what’s there

What the first phase of this role is simple in concept, but high impact:

  • Understand what exists
  • Identify what matters
  • Take ownership and bring control

What you’ll be doing:

  • Taking hands‑on ownership of infrastructure, networks, and core systems
  • Building a clear view of systems, dependencies, and risks
  • Introducing structure where it’s missing (documentation, ownership, process)
  • Working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve how things run
  • Supporting a gradual move towards more cloud‑based infrastructure

This is a role where you’ll switch between fixing problems, improving systems, and shaping decisions.

What makes this interesting:

  • You’re not inheriting a polished environment - you’re shaping it
  • You’ll have real ownership and visibility across the business
  • You’ll play a key role in enabling longer‑term digital and technology change
  • You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, not sit behind a ticketing system

What we’re looking for:

You don’t need everything to be perfect before you get started. You’re likely someone who:

  • Has a strong background in infrastructure (servers, networks, systems)
  • Has worked across a mix of environments (on‑prem + some cloud exposure – details to be shared)
  • Is comfortable figuring things out without a playbook
  • Enjoys taking ownership and making things better
  • Can communicate clearly with non‑technical stakeholders

You might currently be:

  • A Senior Infrastructure Engineer ready to step up
  • Or already leading infrastructure in an SME setting

This role isn’t:

  • A pure cyber security role
  • A highly structured environment with everything already defined

Package: Bristol‑based (typically 3 days per week in the office). Benefits include private healthcare, pension, additional holiday options, and more.
