About Us: Our Little Journey Learning Centre is an Ofsted-registered education provider supporting children aged 6–16 through Government-funded childcare and homework support programmes. We take pride in creating a safe, positive, and motivating learning environment where every child can thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging Urdu lessons for secondary students (KS3–GCSE), aligned with curriculum standards and examination requirements.
- Plan and deliver effective Urdu instruction in language and literature, incorporating creative writing, linguistics, and research components.
- Support students in developing confidence and exam readiness; track progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment and manage behaviour to support learning.
- Utilize instructional design principles and learning technology tools to support diverse learning styles.
- Mentor students academically and personally, offering guidance on coursework, exam preparation, and career pathways.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and school initiatives.
- Incorporate proofreading, copy editing (including AP style and Chicago Manual of Style), and literacy strategies into daily teaching practices.
- Engage in professional development related to education administration, Montessori methods, or special education as needed.
- Support extracurricular activities such as tutoring sessions or library services that promote literacy and academic success.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Urdu, Linguistics, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience teaching Urdu at the secondary level with a focus on GCSE preparation.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with standardized testing formats and educational research methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal—with the ability to motivate students.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques and behaviour management strategies.
- Experience working with diverse student populations including those requiring special education accommodations or behaviour support plans.
- Ability to incorporate learning technology effectively into lesson delivery.
- Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, proofreading techniques, and copy editing is advantageous.
- Organizational skills necessary for lesson planning, record keeping, and coordinating academic advising or library services.
