The predicted salary is between 60000 - 80000 £ per year.

An opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic GP to join our team working 4-5 sessions per week. Days of work will include Wednesday and Friday. We are a friendly, supportive two partner practice with 8 salaried GPs, working from spacious purpose built premises.

We are a GMS practice with a list size of 9300, a member-practice of Our Health Partnership, a training practice, and have high QOF achievement. Our skilled and experienced practice team is actively engaged with the Primary Care Network and the Primary Health Care Team is on site. We use EMIS WEB and there is no out of hours commitment.

Main duties of the job

As you are an integral part of us, it is expected that you will help support and input into the aims of the practice in areas of clinical governance, good practice, quality & outcomes framework, enhanced services, practice audit, referral review and any other improvement plans as determined by the practice. The practice encourages active engagement in developing and delivering new services.

Clinical duties will include seeing/triaging people with acute conditions and ongoing chronic conditions, which will also include reviews based on the QOF. There will be an on-call commitment in-hours approximately 2 days per month.

Job responsibilities

Appointments are scheduled at 10 minute intervals and you will be providing face to face consultations in the morning and in the afternoon, and/or telephone/video consultations, plus you will take your share of extra consultations where demand is excessive in line with any GP within the practice. You will be required to undertake a share of home visits as part of the allotted session time. It is expected that you deal on a daily basis with telephone queries from patients or other health care professionals in your administrative time.

In the interests of patient care we strongly believe in the benefit of continuity of care. This means that you are expected to follow up results, x-rays and correspondence via Docman, as well as those that you have generated yourself (investigations and queries related to your consultations). Referrals should be completed on a daily basis. Investigations and referrals should be completed and associated documentation dealt with within appropriate timescales.

Person Specification

Qualifications include a degree in medicine recognised by the General Medical Council, completion of foundation training, completion of training course in General Practice, GMC registration, registration on the GP Performers List, and a Disclosure and Barring Service Check. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
