This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in a fast-paced, mission-driven organisation, shaping robust contractual frameworks, driving continuous improvement, and supporting innovative work aligned with the Our Future Health mission.
Despite big improvements in healthcare in our lifetimes, today millions of people in the UK still live in poor health as they get older. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective. Our plan is to bring together 5 million volunteers from right across the UK who will be asked to contribute information to help build one of the most detailed pictures we have ever had of people’s health. Researchers will be able to use this information to make new discoveries about human health and diseases. So future generations can live in good health for longer.
As a key member of a legal function, you will work closely with the organisation and its stakeholders and advise across a range of legal areas. Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

- Provision of legal support and advice to partnership, commercial, research, people, compliance, IT and procurement teams.
- Provision of ad hoc advice on day-to-day matters including confidentiality agreements, contract clause interpretation, research access, insurance matters, disputes and regulatory compliance.
- Contributing to continuous improvement by simplifying team processes, developing standardised templates, assisting with innovation, engaging proactively in fact finding, building relationships across the organisation, and driving improvement projects.
- Delivering training to contract management, commercial, research and procurement colleagues.
- Legal reporting in accordance with internal governance requirements.
- Managing external legal counsel, including quality, budget and delivery.
You will be a UK qualified lawyer with several years PQE and broad commercial contracting experience, developed in a private practice with ideally in-house experience, either directly or through a client secondment, with experience gained in a variety of commercial contracts.
To succeed in this role, you will also have some of the following skills:
- Experience with supply chain and procurement issues, e-commerce business models, SaaS contracting and healthcare research issues.

- Be a strong team player, able to build trust and relationships at all levels and with all functions/teams.
