We are looking to hire a Data Scientist who will be focused on how we invite people to join our study. You’ll sit at the intersection of analytics, operations, and behavioural insight, owning the end‑to‑end planning of participant invitations across our clinic network. Your work will directly influence how efficiently clinics fill, how effectively budgets are used, and how quickly we reach our recruitment goals. This is a rare opportunity to blend analytics, operations, and scientific impact. You’ll own the end‑to‑end planning of participant invitations across the UK, using real‑time performance data to make daily decisions that directly influence recruitment outcomes.
If you love solving complex operational puzzles, thrive in fast‑moving environments, and want your work to matter at national scale, then we want to hear from you. You’ll also sit within the wider Analytics function of analysts, data scientists, and data engineers with significant industry experience who are at the heart of everything we do at Our Future Health. We’re a remote‑first team, but we meet in person twice a month for collaboration, co‑working and lunch, and once a quarter for a team strategy day focused on planning, deeper problem‑solving and long‑term thinking. These in‑person days are a great opportunity to connect, share ideas and learn from each other. We also have a regular book club and team demos, which give us space to learn together and celebrate what we’re building.
At Our Future Health, our mission is to transform the prevention, detection and treatment of conditions such as dementia, cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. We’re looking for people to join us on our journey. If you’re looking for a new challenge where you can contribute to helping future generations live in good health for longer, then we’re keen to speak with you.
What you’ll be doing:
- Forecasting how many invitations we need to hit clinic booking targets.
- Planning and scheduling multi‑channel invitation sends weeks in advance.
- Modelling population reach and invite capacity for new clinic locations.
- Maintaining recruitment and booking forecasts used across the organisation.
- Supporting targeted re‑contact campaigns to boost engagement.
- Optimising invitation timing, channel mix, and volumes to maximise bookings.
- Monitoring daily booking performance and adjusting plans in real time.
- Tracking invitation volumes across all channels and spotting gaps early.
- Identifying underperforming clinics and recommending rapid corrective actions.
- Updating invitation plans in response to pilots, partnerships, and new initiatives.
- Building, validating, and quality‑checking invitation data files.
- Managing secure file transfers and ensuring smooth processing with partners.
- Monitoring response rates and triggering follow‑up sends when needed.
- Automating repetitive workflows using Python, R, or SQL.
- Creating and maintaining scripts that streamline data and reporting processes.
- Documenting automated workflows and recommending tooling improvements.
- Leading weekly cross‑team invitation planning meetings.
- Working with analytics colleagues to feed performance insights into forecasts.
- Supporting planning for expansion into devolved administrations.
What you won’t be doing:
- Working in a siloed environment with no freedom to make decisions.
- Working in a place where you can’t see the impact your expertise makes.
To succeed in this role you will be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and experience:
- Experience using Python or R for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
- Proficient SQL skills and confidence working with large datasets.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and familiarity with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau or Omni.
- Background in demand forecasting, capacity planning, or campaign scheduling.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams with a daily operational cadence.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication, including leading cross‑team meetings.
- Exceptional attention to detail and rigorous data‑validation habits.
- Experience with geospatial analysis (e.g., PostGIS, GeoPandas, QGIS) would be helpful but not essential.
- Exposure to healthcare, clinical trials, or participant recruitment environments would be helpful but not essential.
- Understanding of behavioural science principles in communications would be helpful but not essential.
