At Our Future Health, we're building the UK's largest ever health research programme. We're bringing together up to 5 million volunteers to create an unparalleled resource that will transform how we detect, prevent and treat diseases such as cancer, dementia, diabetes and heart disease. We're now looking for two Epidemiologists to join our growing Epidemiology team.
While both roles share a common foundation in epidemiological methods and collaborative data science, each will have a different area of focus:
- Health Questionnaires: leading the development of new participant questionnaires and ensuring they are scientifically robust, valid and fit for purpose. You will come with a strong background in questionnaire design and validation.
- Questionnaire Data: applying epidemiological expertise to different data sets. Perhaps you've worked with air pollution data, biomarkers, or clinical measurement data before.
As an Epidemiologist, you'll provide epidemiological expertise across multidisciplinary teams developing data products and research services. You'll work closely with data scientists, engineers, product managers and designers to ensure complex health data are transformed into scientifically robust, high‑quality resources for researchers. You'll contribute to study design, data interpretation and analytical approaches, helping ensure our outputs are reproducible, ethical and aligned with participant trust and governance requirements.
Across both roles, you will:
- Provide epidemiological expertise to multidisciplinary data and research enablement teams.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers and product managers to develop scalable, scientifically robust health datasets and analytical solutions.
- Conduct descriptive, exploratory and population health analyses that support research and organisational priorities.
- Ensure analytical approaches are reproducible, scientifically rigorous and aligned with governance, ethics and disclosure control requirements.
- Clearly communicate analytical methods, assumptions, limitations and findings to scientific, technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Contribute to analytical standards, reusable code, documentation and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Requirements:
- An MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Data Science or another relevant biomedical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of study design, cohort construction, bias, confounding and the interpretation of observational health data.
- Experience working with large‑scale health datasets, such as electronic health records, longitudinal cohort studies or routinely collected healthcare data.
- Proficiency in R or Python for statistical analysis and reproducible workflows.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analyses to a range of audiences.
- A collaborative approach and experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- The ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining scientific rigour in a fast‑moving environment.
Closing date for applications: 9am, Tuesday 14th July. Salary from £50,000.
