KPMG Law has a vision to become one of the world's largest legal practices, integrated as part of a broader multi-capability professional services firm and #1 of the Big Four. In an ever more complex and fast-moving business environment, clients are demanding connected business solutions delivered at scale, harnessing the power of technology and leveraging deep commercial acumen.

Developing market leading legal capabilities in key disciplines is core to achieving this vision and represents a unique and exciting opportunity for ambitious and talented legal professionals.

At a global level, KPMG Law already employs over 3,750 lawyers in 81 different countries across the world and is continuing to grow rapidly year on year.

A cornerstone of the firm’s strategy in law is the UK market. As the second largest legal market in the world, it is critical to our global aspirations. KPMG Law was first set up in 2014 and operates out of numerous hubs across the UK including London, Leeds, Manchester, Reading and Birmingham.

Our vision is to bring a fresh approach, delivering better business outcomes and transforming legal services for good. Our aim is to invest to disrupt and create the UK’s leading integrated legal services business. Our approach allows us to supply rounded legal solutions inspired by a deep industry knowledge and business insights from our wider practice areas of Tax, Consulting and Deal Advisory, all supported by a global legal network.

Our differentiator is our multi-disciplinary approach that sets us apart and which, from day one, will give you the opportunity to experience a broad range of legal projects with exposure to the wider KPMG network, here and abroad. Our clients are some of the world's biggest companies, on projects ranging from Deals, UK and International Business Reorganisations, Financial Services, Disputes; right through to Workforce compliance and transformation and Commercial Technology and Data, as well as Family Office and Private Client matters for our high net worth clients.

KPMG is very different to most law firms, it’s very entrepreneurial and a very exciting proposition for the right candidate. It offers new opportunities to differentiate and stand out from the market. We give our lawyers complete permission to think big, open their minds to new ways of working, always asking the question “is there a better way?” to deliver great outcomes for our clients.

The Opportunity: KPMG Law wishes to hire a Senior Manager - with substantial post qualified experience in the real estate sector ideally working for clients with repeat activity. The KPMG Law UK real estate team started in December 2023 and is now 11 strong including 5 Partners with further growth plans during 2026 already acting on repeat investment, development and asset management mandates for private equity funds, sovereign wealth and listed property company clients.

The successful candidates will have experience within corporate and/or transactional Real Estate and may or may not have a portable practice that they will bring with them to KPMG. The primary focus of the hires will be meaningful deal experience in this space (KPMG is not looking for real estate tax lawyers as part of these hires). Ideally the candidates will be known in the market with good contacts in the target client base. As this sector is known to lack diversity, KPMG is dedicated to considering diverse profiles for this role. The ideal candidates are likely to come from law firms but candidates from competitor firms or in-house will also be considered.

The Role of a Senior Manager: The successful candidate will be:

  • an entrepreneurial self-starter who is excited by the opportunity to provide multi-disciplinary legal services in a different environment and manner while delivering a great service to clients;
  • able to understand the legal solution within the wider picture and who is keen to become a more rounded business adviser;
  • a driven and proactive team player who enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines and is keen to assist with the development of junior team members;
  • a relationship builder who can spot and develop new opportunities and client relationships both within the KPMG network and externally;
  • a good technical lawyer with a solid knowledge of the relevant legislation and able to work with limited partner or director supervision, driving mandates forward.

The role will involve:

  • providing legal advice on a broad range of client solutions spanning some or all of the areas of real estate legal advice;
  • building relationships with other KPMG teams and KPMG clients to develop and provide multi-disciplinary solutions;
  • project managing and driving projects to conclusion;
  • training and mentoring more junior team members.

Strong academic, technical, and personal skills are essential.

When combined with KPMG’s market leading tax and deal advisory practices in this area, a multi-disciplinary offering combining corporate and real estate lawyers will be compelling to the right candidate. This is an opportunity to help continue to build the real estate practice, leveraging off the very strong real estate tax client base. KPMG can be flexible on charge out rates as they work a lot on fixed pricing. Exposure to a global professional services firm and KPMG’s network which covers 81 jurisdictions. KPMG is very different to most law firms, it’s very entrepreneurial and a very exciting proposition for the right candidate. There are many more ways to differentiate yourself at KPMG and different ways to be perceived as successful.
