Senior Designer role within the Primary ELT Design team, working across a wide range of print and digital products for international education markets. You will create high-quality, engaging design, develop impactful brand identities, and contribute to market-leading covers, layouts, digital content, and marketing materials.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality, engaging design, develop impactful brand identities, and contribute to market-leading covers, layouts, digital content, and marketing materials across print and digital products for international education markets.
  • Manage external design and typesetting suppliers, outsource visual content, and lead illustration style and direction, ensuring all work meets OUP's standards for quality, accessibility, and D&I.
  • Collaborate closely with editorial, media, and marketing teams to ensure design solutions meet product and customer needs.
  • Manage schedules and budgets across an allocated list of titles, maintain accurate project information, and support cost-efficient workflows.
  • Maintain brand toolkits and asset-management systems, and stay up to date with trends in design, illustration, photography, and publishing technology, while ensuring compliance with OUP policies.

Qualifications

  • You will bring a qualification or relevant experience in Graphic Design, with a proven track record of producing first-class design for Primary or Secondary educational publishing.
  • Strong typographic and layout skills and a high-quality portfolio are essential, as is solid experience working as a print designer in a publishing environment.
  • Full knowledge of the design process and proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and interactive design tools.
  • Experience producing and outsourcing design, typesetting, and illustration for print and digital content is desirable; digital design experience or familiarity with XML workflows would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and time-management skills, with the ability to prepare files for both print and digital delivery.
  • Knowledge of MS Office is also expected.
