To start in September 2026, we are seeking an exceptional STEM Horizons Teacher of Computer Science who can develop and inspire our pupils and contribute to the life of the School as a whole. This role is part‑time (0.5 FTE). The teacher will typically teach two thirds of their time, with the remaining half dedicated to tutoring and co‑curricular activities. The position involves teaching approximately 42 periods per fortnight and contributing to pastoral support and the School’s co‑curricular life. Teaching Responsibilities
- Deliver the OCR J277 GCSE Computer Science specification and the H446 A‑level specification, working with approximately 65 pupils in each GCSE year group and 35 pupils in Sixth Form.
- Teach across the First, Second and Third Forms, with approximately half of the year group studying Computer Science in the Third Form.
- Support pupils’ digital literacy, including research, spreadsheets, presentation delivery and other digital skills.
- Develop pupils’ problem‑solving and computational‑thinking skills through decomposition and logical thinking.
- Aim for high academic results (in 2024, 53 % of GCSEs graded 8 or 9 and over 73 % of A‑levels at A/A).
- Encourage and facilitate progression of Upper Sixth pupils to computer science or related subjects at top universities.
Co‑curricular & Pastoral Support
- Contribute to the School’s co‑curricular activities and pastoral support provision.
Professional Duties
- Carry out general professional duties of a school teacher under the reasonable direction of the Head of School and perform any additional duties assigned by the Head.
