In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Partners and Clinical Pharmacist to ensure the accurate, timely, and safe supply of prescribed medications.

Main duties of the job:

  • You will provide both technical and administrative support to clinicians and assist with patient medication queries.

Job responsibilities:

  • Undertake patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use, through shared decision-making conversations with patients.
  • Conduct medicines optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration, support medication reviews and medicines reconciliation. Where required, utilise consultation skills to work in partnership with patients to ensure they use their medicines effectively.
  • Perform medication switches or dose adjustments as directed by prescribers or pharmacists.
  • Assist with medication queries from patients, community pharmacies, and prescribers, and forward recommendations for alternatives.
  • Support implementation of MHRA alerts, safety updates, and prescribing audits.
  • Utilise the GP practice clinical systems (EMIS Web) to conduct prescribing audits.
  • Support QOF and CQC searches related to prescribing safety.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Enrolled in, undertaking or qualified from, an approved training pathway. For example, the Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP).
  • Experience: Experience of working in a primary care setting. Knowledge of GP Clinical system EMIS Web.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
