About The Role
- Position: GA2 – Festival Coordinator – Grassroots Festival
- Desired Contract Length: 26 Weeks
- Start Date: February 16, 2026
- End Date: Initial term approved to the Province of Ontario’s current fiscal year end, March 27, 2026. Additional weeks are pending the approval of Ottawa Festivals’ fiscal year (2026-2027) JCP program annual agreement.
- Work Schedule: Full Time - 4 business days (32 hours per week)
- Location: Hybrid: Virtual and 1 day/week at Westboro office
Job Summary: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships. Reporting to and working under the direction of the Festival Executive Director/Producer, the Festival Administrator will assist in a variety of administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Provide varied support to Ottawa Grassroots Festival (OGF) Crew Leads
- Maintain volunteer spreadsheets and contact lists ensuring they are up to date for current and new volunteers
- Participate in outreach activities to secure volunteers
- Contact new volunteers by phone and email as required
- Assist with scheduling volunteers and with communication around scheduling
- Assist assigning volunteers to various positions
- Assist with updates to a volunteer handbook
- Assist with provision of information to all volunteers prior to Festival
- Help review and provide input to support the OGF website
- Execute tasks as required during the four days that the festival runs
- Other related administrative tasks as assigned
Skills Required
- Excellent Oral and Written English language skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Multi-tasking skills
- Reliable and able to work cooperatively as a team member with a minimum of supervision
- Skilled with typical office automation tools (e.g., spreadsheets, documents, etc.)
- Experience with or ability to learn to use Forms software (such as Google Forms)
Additional Qualifications Required
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
- An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week
- A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada
- Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
- Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period
- Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months
- Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years
- Received the Employment Insurance Emergency Response benefit (CERB) within the previous 60 months
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration
$704 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours).
