Our client is seeking a Key Account Manager to support continued expansion in the transitional and decarbonised energy sectors. The role focuses on developing new sales opportunities and driving sustainable growth across industries including Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen Generation and Storage, Waste-to-X, Power Grid, and Renewable Heating. Proven experience in selling equipment within one or more of these sectors is essential.
Responsibilities
- Manage sales and customer relationships within key energy sectors
- Support engineering and marketing efforts, contribute to product development and business strategy
- Ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction through strong internal and external collaboration
- Achieve order intake targets
- Contribute to business plans ensuring sustainable, profitable growth
- Gather and present customer forecasts to senior management/board
- Attend customer meetings in the UK and overseas
- Review and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and standards
- Understand customer needs and propose suitable alternatives
- Prepare technical documents, specifications, and sketches for cost estimation
- Liaise with third-party suppliers for specialist expertise
- Manage production of internal and external cost estimates
- Produce bid cost sheets for Sales Director approval
- Create high-quality proposal documents that meet project and customer requirements
- Ensure projects are costed within budget while meeting requirements
- Provide ad-hoc sales support to internal and external stakeholders
- Compile clear bid-phase documentation and technical/commercial packages
- Communicate project requirements across departments effectively
- Maintain CRM system to track leads, monitor activity, and support planning
- Proactively contribute to product improvements and cost reductions
- Identify and target new customer acquisition opportunities
- Support project management, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams as needed
- Complete site surveys, condition assessments, and assist with technical reports
- Perform additional tasks as requested by management
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a Key Account Management position or Engineering / Applications position in one or more of the above sectors
- Business, Engineering or Manufacturing Qualification to Diploma level or equivalent
- Knowledge of the UK & EU market and working practices
- Experience of working in Engineering / Manufacturing
- Demonstrable record of success in account management
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Experience of selling products: Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers (preferably Shell & Tube), Piping, Storage Tanks, Modular Skids, Acoustic and Filtration Equipment for Gas Turbines
Desirable
- Degree level qualification, preferably to 2:1 level or above
- A good understanding of general engineering principles
- A good understanding of the manufacturing process for fabricated and integrated products
About You
- Able to work out of hours, when required to support customer needs
- Full UK driving licence
- Able to travel within the UK and Overseas, sometimes frequently
- Current UK resident
- English speaking
