Otis are currently seeking an NVQ Level 4 qualified Tester / Technician to join the Major Projects New Equipment Installation Team. The role ensures that all new lift, escalator and travelator installations within our construction portfolio are fully tested, compliant, and fit for use. The technician will provide technical support to other Field Test Engineers across the business and train new Field Test Engineers and Installation Engineers in adjusting and commissioning units.

Responsibilities

  • Personally test and commission complex multi‑unit sites with highly technical interfaces such as Compass and Elevator Management System (EMS).
  • Test high‑speed gearless units and escalators/travelators, managing other test engineers on multi‑unit sites to ensure safe and efficient testing and commissioning.
  • Provide technical support on site to other test engineers, up‑skill all test engineers, and audit test and EN 81 compliance handover paperwork.
  • Undertake client liaison during testing of large multi‑unit sites and attend commissioning meetings as required, assisting with new bids that involve special technical requirements.
  • Perform quality readings upon project completion, ensuring a seamless handover from New Equipment to Service and supporting service on technical issues on site during the Quality Operating Period and on an ad‑hoc basis.

Qualifications

  • Experience in lift and/or escalator industry testing with qualifications at NVQ4 equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles and relevant lift codes, e.g., EN 81 Part 2.
  • IT literacy: proficiency with MS Excel and MS Outlook.
