We are seeking a motivated and hands‑on Trainee Lift Repairs Engineer to join our repair team. This role is ideal for someone looking to start or develop a career in the lift and escalator industry. You will work alongside experienced engineers to learn how to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of lift equipment safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified engineers with the repair and refurbishment of lift systems
- Support fault finding and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical components
- Carry out basic repair tasks under supervision, including parts replacement and adjustments
- Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and service manuals
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and industry safety standards
- Maintain accurate records of work carried out
- Keep tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and occasionally customers
- Adhere strictly to health & safety regulations at all times
Training & Development
- Structured on‑the‑job training with experienced engineers
- Opportunity to work towards industry‑recognised qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Lift Engineering)
- Progressive development into a fully qualified Lift Repairs Engineer role
Requirements
Essential
- Strong interest in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Basic IT and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
Desirable
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)
- Previous experience in engineering, maintenance, or construction environments
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment
