Title: General Accountant
Location: London
Liftec Express, a leading PE-backed independent provider of elevator and escalator services in the UK, is seeking a skilled and experienced General Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Director, the General Accountant will support core accounting activities including general ledger management, reconciliations, journal postings, and supporting the month-end close.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items
- Support the monthly and year-end closing process
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of transactions
- Assist in preparation of management accounts and financial reports
- Process intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Reconcile bank accounts and support treasury processes
- Work closely with the AP/AR teams to ensure accuracy and timely resolution of queries
- Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required
- Assist with VAT returns, tax compliance, and other regulatory filings
- Contribute to the improvement and documentation of accounting processes and controls
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by the Finance Controller
Key Requirements
- Part-qualified or qualified by experience (AAT / ACCA / CIMA)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting.
- Relevant certification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent is preferred
- 5+ years of similar experience
- Experience in a PE-backed, turnaround or carve-out environment is advantageous
- Previous experience in a service or construction-related business is a plus
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
