As a Talent Director (Sports), you’ll be responsible for building and developing your own roster of talent, helping to lead the sports division and supporting the growth and evolution of the team and business. You will mentor and manage a team of more junior Talent Managers. The role reports to the Managing Director. ABOUT THE ROLE: Manage and develop a roster of emerging and established sports talent, including higher-profile talent who will benefit from the breadth of your expertise Help lead on our sporting department, including in areas of the sports strategy, sports talent development, sports hiring, sports team management and more Develop in-depth, ambitious but realistic strategies for your roster of talent, which are impactful, commercial and drive long-term, sustainable careers, as well as overseeing and supporting Talent Managers on strategies for their own talent Bring your knowledge and expertise on sports, social media platforms and digital content to talent strategies as well as all opportunities and conversations, to ensure this continues to be a strong backbone of the business and our talent Be responsible for proactively negotiating and securing commercial opportunities for your talent which aim to achieve their revenue target for the year, and provide support/ advice to the team, as needed on negotiating larger, more complex deals Diversify your talents’ career and revenue streams beyond brand partnerships into other areas of media and entertainment including, but not limited to, publishing, product development, podcasting, licensing, broadcast and live - and support more junior Talent Managers on the same Effectively manage your talents’ public image and reputation (including crisis management), liaising with publicists to build and execute narrative and PR strategies (where relevant) - and support/ advise more junior Talent Managers on the same Scout and sign new talent from all areas of sport, media and entertainment in line with OTG’s vision, for both yourself and the wider team and help lead our strategy and processes for talent retention Mentor and line manage team members Lead on regularly assessing the commercial and strategic health of talent on your own roster and your line managers’ rosters and remedy if needed Work with the Directors on the sporting strategy for the talent management team, support the Directors in executing it and help motivate and inspire more junior members to achieve it Report to the Directors on revenue forecasting for your own talent, as well as your line managees, supporting more junior Talent Managers on the same Support the Directors on business processes and frameworks for the effective operation of the talent management team, as required Keep on the pulse of the latest sports, social media, entertainment and talent industry developments, foreseeing any opportunities or challenges for our talent and the business, and work with the Directors to either develop propositions or mitigate risks in relation to these Network and position yourself as a leader in the business, developing relationships on behalf of OTG and the talent roster, to benefit its overall growth and success Be a voice in the industry on changes and developments, providing your thought leadership at events and in press, as required Embody OTG’s values and high standards when representing the agency both internally and externally ABOUT YOU: A minimum of 5 years’ experience within talent management and the creator economy, specifically related to sport and athlete management A sports license (FIFA, Rugby, Cricket or similar) is preferred but not essential. A strong track record of managing talent in the sport and athlete management, including experience managing established, high profile talent A good leader with experience of recruiting, managing and mentoring junior members of the team A clear understanding of strategic talent management and securing/ negotiating/reviewing large, complex deals Proven record of generating talent revenue to target across multiple revenue streams including, but not limited to, brand partnerships, licensing, podcasting, publishing, broadcast Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication, and collaboration skills Possess in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of the talent and social media industry with a passion for the world of content creators Ability to handle difficult conversations with team, talent and third parties, always with an empathic and solutions-focused mindset and in a confident, calm manner Adaptable self-starter who is able to manage multiple projects and talent simultaneously with a persistent and determined attitude Strong relationship builder Commercially minded with a solid understanding of business operations and challenges Must demonstrate a high quality of work performed both accurately and efficiently to deadlines Organised and pragmatic with day-to-day tasks Meticulous attention to detail Proactive, ambitious and competitive to achieve positive results Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Positive and solutions-focused Confidence in decision-making Strong understanding of Microsoft Office, Canva and Google Drive WHAT WE OFFER: A fast-paced, reactive job at an exciting and fast-growing talent management agency A job where your voice is heard and where good ideas are swiftly acted on Competitive salary and commission following probation period (target-based) Unlimited holiday (after probation) Limitless progression opportunities - we believe that everybody’s career progression should be uncapped.
