As a talent-first agency, we ensure that our talent managers’ rosters remain small to provide best-in-class service to support our creators' careers.
As a Talent Director (Sports), you’ll be responsible for building and developing your own roster of talent, helping to lead the sports division, and supporting the growth and evolution of the team and business. You will mentor and manage a team of more junior Talent Managers. The role reports to the Managing Director.
About the Role:
- Manage and develop a roster of emerging and established sports talent, including higher-profile talent who will benefit from your expertise.
- Help lead our sporting department, including areas of sports strategy, talent development, hiring, and team management.
- Develop ambitious but realistic strategies for your roster of talent that are impactful, commercial, and drive long-term, sustainable careers.
- Oversee and support Talent Managers on strategies for their own talent.
- Negotiate and secure commercial opportunities for your talent to achieve their revenue targets.
- Diversify your talents’ career and revenue streams beyond brand partnerships into other areas of media and entertainment.
- Effectively manage your talents’ public image and reputation, liaising with publicists to build and execute narrative and PR strategies.
- Scout and sign new talent from all areas of sport, media, and entertainment in line with OTG’s vision.
- Mentor and line manage team members.
- Assess the commercial and strategic health of talent on your roster and remedy if needed.
- Work with the Directors on the sporting strategy for the talent management team.
- Report to the Directors on revenue forecasting for your own talent and support more junior Talent Managers.
- Support the Directors on business processes and frameworks for effective operation of the talent management team.
- Keep abreast of the latest sports, social media, entertainment, and talent industry developments.
- Network and position yourself as a leader in the business, developing relationships on behalf of OTG and the talent roster.
- Be a voice in the industry on changes and developments, providing thought leadership at events and in press.
- Embody OTG’s values and high standards when representing the agency.
About You:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience within talent management and the creator economy, specifically related to sport and athlete management.
- A sports license (FIFA, Rugby, Cricket or similar) is preferred but not essential.
- A strong track record of managing talent in sport and athlete management.
- A good leader with experience of recruiting, managing, and mentoring junior team members.
- A clear understanding of strategic talent management and negotiating large, complex deals.
- Proven record of generating talent revenue across multiple revenue streams.
- Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication, and collaboration skills.
- In-depth knowledge of the talent and social media industry with a passion for content creators.
- Ability to handle difficult conversations with an empathic and solutions-focused mindset.
- Adaptable self-starter able to manage multiple projects and talent simultaneously.
- Strong relationship builder with a solid understanding of business operations.
- High quality of work performed accurately and efficiently to deadlines.
- Organised and pragmatic with day-to-day tasks.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Proactive, ambitious, and competitive to achieve positive results.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
