We are seeking a reliable and mechanically minded Boiler House Operative to join our on-site team at Basingstoke Hospital. This is a hands-on role involving the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of critical boiler plant systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance. You will work as part of a small, dedicated team of two, sharing responsibility for maintaining continuous operation of the boiler house.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily statutory and regulatory checks within the boiler house
- Monitor and maintain:
- 2 x steam boilers
- 3 x LTHW (Low Temperature Hot Water) boilers
Working Pattern & Additional Duties
- Participation in an on-call rota (£150 per week, with additional payment for call-outs)
- Weekend and bank holiday working required as part of a rota system
- Daily checks are required 7 days a week
Overtime & Additional Pay:
- Weekend checks: Paid at 4 hours per day @ 1.66x standard hourly rate
- Bank holiday checks: Paid at 4 hours @ 1.66x standard hourly rate + 1 additional day of annual leave
- Call-outs: Paid in addition to on-call allowance
