Under the general supervision of the anesthesiologist, provides perioperative anesthesia care in support of orthopaedic surgical procedures. Administers anesthetic; provides pre-operative evaluation and post-operative follow-up. Functions as a patient advocate and liaison among patients, families, nurses, and physicians.

Qualifications and Education:
Qualifications:
- Current license by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a registered professional nurse.
- Certified or recertified by the NBCRNA.
- ACLS and PALS certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred, especially in Orthopaedics.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-anesthetic evaluations and document findings.
- Review patient condition and medical records prior to induction.
- Assess patient suitability for anesthesia and plan accordingly.
- Verify equipment functionality before anesthesia administration.
- Administer anesthesia, monitor vital functions, and ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Document anesthesia records and post-operative orders thoroughly.
- Provide reports to PACU staff and evaluate patient discharge readiness.
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain high-quality care.
- Follow policies and collaborate with the care team.
- Work under the direction of anesthesiologists.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None specified
Language Skills: Effective communication in English required.
Physical Demands: Standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, responding quickly in emergencies, and other physical activities typical of patient care roles.
