A long-established engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking a Service Coordinator to join its service operations team. The company supplies, services, and supports a wide range of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems used across industrial, transport, and infrastructure sectors. This is a key coordination role responsible for managing service requests, scheduling field engineers, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within a fast-paced technical environment.
Role Purpose
The Service Coordinator ensures efficient planning, scheduling, and execution of service activities — from planned maintenance to urgent breakdown support. Acting as the central point of communication between engineers, customers, and internal departments, you’ll help maintain service quality, optimise resource utilisation, and uphold high standards of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritise, and schedule service calls, maintenance tasks, and emergency requests.
- Allocate and dispatch field engineers based on availability, skillset, and location.
- Monitor job progress and adapt schedules dynamically to manage delays or urgent demands.
- Serve as the main customer contact for updates, confirmations, and post-service follow-ups.
- Generate and maintain accurate service job records, ensuring documentation is completed promptly.
- Liaise with logistics, procurement, and stores to ensure required parts and equipment are available.
- Provide remote coordination and support to engineers working on-site.
- Identify opportunities to improve service scheduling, communication, and preventive maintenance planning.
Skills & Experience
- 2–5+ years’ experience in service coordination, dispatch, or field service administration.
- Background in engineering, mechanical or industrial environments preferred.
- Highly organised with strong multitasking and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient with ERP, CRM, or job management systems, and capable of handling basic reporting (e.g., Excel).
- Technical understanding or genuine interest in engineered systems is an advantage.
- Calm and decisive when working under pressure.
