Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Hydraulic Hose Technician to join our team. This is a practical, customer-facing role centred on the manufacture, assembly, and supply of hydraulic hose and fittings to specification. The successful candidate will have a solid working knowledge of hydraulic hose products and assembly techniques, with the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a busy depot environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture and assemble hydraulic hose assemblies to customer specification, including cutting, crimping, and fitting of hoses and end fittings across a range of pressure ratings and standards.
- Identify and select the correct hose, fittings, and adaptors from stock using catalogues, cross-reference guides, and technical knowledge.
- Operate hose crimping machinery safely and accurately, maintaining tooling and dies in good working order.
- Provide counter sales support, advising customers on hose selection, routing, and specifications — in person and over the phone.
- Assist with same-day and emergency breakdown hose replacement, including site visits where required.
- Carry out pressure testing of completed hose assemblies in line with relevant standards and quality procedures.
- Accurately complete job cards, works orders, and delivery documentation.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in hydraulic hose assembly and manufacture, including cutting and crimping.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic hose types, pressure ratings, end fittings, and industry standards (e.g. SAE, DIN, BSP).
- Ability to identify and cross-reference hose and fitting specifications from technical catalogues.
- Experience operating hose crimping equipment.
- Good customer service and communication skills, comfortable in a counter sales environment.
- Methodical approach with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with a hydraulic hose distributor or depot environment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic fittings and adaptors across multiple thread forms (BSP, JIC, ORFS, Metric).
- Familiarity with brands such as Parker, Gates, Manuli, Alfagomma, or Stauff.
- Experience with mobile plant, agricultural, or construction machinery hydraulics.
- NVQ or equivalent qualification in fluid power, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Forklift licence.
- Experience using stock management or ERP systems.
