Role Purpose We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join our growing team, covering a territory across Surrey, Sussex, West Kent, North West Kent, South London, and South of the River Thames.
This is a field-based, customer-facing role responsible for the service, maintenance, repair, and installation of our full product range.
The successful candidate will be technically capable, self-managed, and committed to delivering a first-class service experience to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, and breakdown response across our product range, including air compressors, dryers, filters, ancillary equipment, fluid management systems, and power tools.
- Diagnose and resolve faults on compressed air systems, identifying root causes and recommending corrective or upgrade solutions to customers.
- Install and commission new equipment at customer sites, ensuring systems are set up correctly and handed over to the highest standard.
- Complete all relevant service documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including job sheets, service reports, risk assessments, and equipment records.
- Manage parts and consumables requirements, ensuring van stock is maintained and orders are placed promptly to avoid unnecessary delays.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor on site.
- Identify and report commercial opportunities, including service contract renewals, equipment upgrades, and additional service requirements, to the Service Manager.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring all work is carried out safely and in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Manage your own schedule and territory effectively, maintaining regular communication with the Service Manager and internal support teams.
- Participate in the on-call and out-of-hours rota as required to support customer emergency breakdown requirements. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential
- Proven field service experience in compressed air, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Hands-on knowledge of air compressors (rotary screw, reciprocating, or centrifugal), dryers, and ancillary compressed air equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability across electro-mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload across a defined territory.
- Good IT literacy, with the ability to complete digital service records and use diagnostic software.
- Excellent customer-facing communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence. Desirable
- Familiarity with major compressed air equipment brands, including rotary screw compressors, dryers, nitrogen generators, and power tools.
- Experience with fluid management or lubrication systems.
- Refrigeration handling certificate (F-Gas).
- 18th Edition Electrical Qualification or equivalent.
- Experience with SCADA or remote monitoring systems for compressed air.
- Previous territory or field-based service role.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
