Design Engineer – Reputable Manufacturing Company
We are a reputable manufacturing company currently looking for a Design Engineer with a strong tooling background to join our expanding team.
This role will play a key part in the design, development, and improvement of specialist tooling and mechanical systems used across our product range.
What we’re looking for:
- BEng in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- Proven background in tooling design, development, or modification
- Hands-on experience with CAD software; SolidWorks knowledge is highly beneficial
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, machining, and tooling processes
- Excellent problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail
- Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the design and development of new tooling solutions to support production and product innovation
- Improve and optimise existing tooling for efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
- Work closely with production and assembly teams to ensure tooling meets operational requirements
- Conduct feasibility studies and calculations to validate tooling performance
- Take ownership of tooling projects, from concept through to testing and sign-off
- Regularly liaise with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders on tooling-related requirements
- Support the wider engineering team with technical expertise in tooling and mechanical systems
- Provide input on continuous improvement initiatives and new product development through tooling innovation
