Osprey Engineering Solutions are recruiting a Civil Design Engineer on behalf of a confidential client — a well-established, privately-owned construction and infrastructure services business with over 150 years of heritage, headquartered in the North West of England and operating nationally. This is a newly created, in-house role — initially focused on temporary works design and basic drainage design, with growth over time. Responsibilities
- Produce temporary works designs including excavation support, shoring, propping, falsework, and access structures in accordance with BS 5975 and relevant British Standards.
- Prepare, check, and manage temporary works design calculations and drawings.
- Produce basic drainage designs covering surface water, foul drainage, and attenuation schemes.
- Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and delivery teams to translate site requirements into practical, safe, and buildable design solutions.
- Ensure all designs meet relevant standards.
- Review third-party designs and provide technical input where required.
Requirements
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven experience in temporary works design with a working knowledge of BS5975.
- Experience producing drainage designs for civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- A practical, hands-on mindset — able to communicate technical solutions clearly to site teams.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects in a contractor environment.
