Are you an Electronic or Electrical Engineer who enjoys turning complex technical requirements into reliable, practical test solutions? My client is a specialist centre of excellence for semiconductor device analysis. I am looking for a Test Development Engineer to design, develop and implement testing for semiconductor devices, including ESD, Latch-up and Transmission Line Pulse (TLP) testing. Reporting to the Technical Director, you will combine electronic circuit design, automated test development, hands-on laboratory testing and customer-facing technical support.

THE ROLE

  • Interpret semiconductor pin-list data and package drawings to develop appropriate test programs
  • Develop automated ESD, Latch-up and TLP test routines
  • Design supporting hardware, including test fixture PCBs and specialist power supplies
  • Create and implement I-V curve-tracing programs
  • Conduct testing safely and in accordance with established procedures
  • Analyse results and discuss findings and next steps directly with customers
  • Prepare clear technical reports and detailed test data
  • Recommend additional testing to investigate unexpected results and support device re-spin activity
  • Help develop new testing methods and services
  • Contribute to continual improvement within an ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 environment

ABOUT YOU

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a closely related subject
  • At least one year of practical electronic circuit design and debugging experience
  • Strong fault-finding and logical problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of electronic measurement principles and their practical limitations
  • Experience using equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and automated test systems
  • Commercial experience gained within engineering, electronics, production, testing or a laboratory environment
  • Strong numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail
  • The confidence to communicate technical information directly to customers
  • Good IT and written reporting skills
  • A practical, resourceful and proactive approach
  • Experience of PCB layout software, semiconductor testing, ESD, Latch-up, TLP or an ISO-accredited testing environment would be particularly valuable, although specialist training can be provided to an engineer with the right underlying ability.
