Are you an Electronic or Electrical Engineer who enjoys turning complex technical requirements into reliable, practical test solutions?
My client is a specialist centre of excellence for semiconductor device analysis. I am looking for a Test Development Engineer to design, develop and implement testing for semiconductor devices, including ESD, Latch-up and Transmission Line Pulse (TLP) testing.
Reporting to the Technical Director, you will combine electronic circuit design, automated test development, hands-on laboratory testing and customer-facing technical support.
THE ROLE
You will:
- Interpret semiconductor pin-list data and package drawings to develop appropriate test programs
- Develop automated ESD, Latch-up and TLP test routines
- Design supporting hardware, including test fixture PCBs and specialist power supplies
- Create and implement I-V curve-tracing programs
- Conduct testing safely and in accordance with established procedures
- Analyse results and discuss findings and next steps directly with customers
- Prepare clear technical reports and detailed test data
- Recommend additional testing to investigate unexpected results and support device re-spin activity
- Help develop new testing methods and services
- Contribute to continual improvement within an ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 environment
ABOUT YOU
I am looking for someone with:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a closely related subject
- At least one year of practical electronic circuit design and debugging experience
- Strong fault-finding and logical problem-solving skills
- An understanding of electronic measurement principles and their practical limitations
- Experience using equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and automated test systems
- Commercial experience gained within engineering, electronics, production, testing or a laboratory environment
- Strong numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail
- The confidence to communicate technical information directly to customers
- Good IT and written reporting skills
- A practical, resourceful and proactive approach
- Experience of PCB layout software, semiconductor testing, ESD, Latch-up, TLP or an ISO-accredited testing environment would be particularly valuable, although specialist training can be provided to an engineer with the right underlying ability.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist technical business where your work will help customers characterise, qualify and improve semiconductor devices.
