About the role

We're looking for a Branch Assistant to keep our Leicester branch running smoothly. You'll serve trade customers at the counter and on the phone, make up hydraulic hose assemblies, and keep stock and paperwork in order.

Our customers include plant hire firms, agricultural contractors, manufacturers and maintenance engineers. When their machines are down, they need the right part fast. You'll be the person who gets it to them.

No hydraulics experience? That's fine. If you've worked on a trade counter or in industrial supplies, we'll give you full product and hose assembly training.

Key responsibilities

Customer service and sales

  • Serve trade and walk-in customers at the counter, identifying parts and recommending the right product
  • Handle phone and email enquiries, quotes and orders
  • Process sales, returns and payments accurately on our [ERP / stock system]
  • Build good relationships with regular account customers

Hose assembly and workshop

  • Make up hydraulic hose assemblies to customer specification using crimping and cutting equipment
  • Identify hose, fittings and adaptors by thread type and size (BSP, JIC, metric, ORFS)
  • Pressure test assemblies and follow safety procedures

Stock and warehouse

  • Receive deliveries, check them against paperwork and put stock away
  • Pick, pack and dispatch customer orders
  • Help with stock counts, replenishment and keeping the branch clean and organised

Admin

  • Raise purchase orders and chase suppliers
  • Keep job, delivery and test records up to date
  • Help keep the branch open when the Branch Manager is out

About you

Essential

  • Experience on a trade counter, in internal sales or in a customer-facing stores role
  • Confident dealing with customers face to face and on the phone
  • Good with numbers and accurate with paperwork
  • Comfortable using a computer and stock or sales systems
  • Practical and happy to get hands-on in the workshop
  • Reliable, organised and a capable of working alone or as part of a small team

Desirable

  • Hydraulics, pneumatics or fluid power experience
  • Hose assembly or crimping experience
  • A background in industrial, engineering, bearings or motor factor supplies
  • Counterbalance forklift licence
  • Full UK driving licence
