Contract - 6 months

Are you a GCP Networking specialist who lives and breathes Infrastructure as Code? We are looking for an Expert Network Engineer to join our team in Bristol. You will own, manage, and scale our enterprise Google Cloud networking stack, ensuring our platform remains stable, secure, and highly performant. This isn’t just a "cloud generalist" role. We need a deep-diver who understands the nuances of Google Cloud routers, interconnects, and service connects, and knows how to deploy them flawlessly using Terraform Cloud and GitHub.

The Role

You will lead the structural and architectural design of our networking platform. From day-to-day operations and incident resolution to long-term strategy and disaster recovery, you will be the go-to authority for our GCP network environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering & Lifecycle: Build, configure, and optimize GCP networking at an enterprise scale. You will own the entire lifecycle of our networking solutions.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Manage all services (Cloud Router, DNS, HA VPN, Load Balancers, etc.) using Terraform Cloud and GitHub.
  • Architecture & Strategy: Lead architectural designs to ensure scalability. Conduct capacity planning and leverage new GCP features to improve efficiency.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage day-to-day operations, including troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and performance tuning.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure all engineering tasks meet strict Control and Security requirements, including VPC Service Controls (VPC SC).
  • Collaboration: Participate in code reviews for peers and provide weekly status reports to leadership and stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

While GCP certifications are a plus, we value proven, hands-on experience above all else. If you have spent years specializing in GCP networking at scale, we want to talk to you.

Technical Must-Haves

  • GCP Networking Expert: Deep knowledge of Cloud Router, DNS, HA VPN, Dedicated Interconnect, IPAM, Private Service Connect, and Load Balancing.
  • Automation Mastery: Expert-level experience with Terraform / Terraform Cloud and GitHub for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Core Networking: Strong grasp of VPC peering, Firewalls, Cloud NAT, and VPC Service Controls.
  • DevOps Ecosystem: Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault, Jenkins, or Harness.

Technical Nice-to-Haves

  • Scripting: Proficiency in Python or Bash.
  • Workload Knowledge: Understanding of how networking interacts with GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, and Data/AI products.
